Starting from
Denver International Airport
Arriving at Briar Rose Bed & Breakfast Inn, 2151 Arapahoe Ave. Boulder
Print these directions for easy reference!
- The airport exit puts you onto Pena Blvd.
- Follow Pena Blvd. (the airport road) to E-470 / Northwest Parkway, two toll roads
that connect seemlessly to get you most of the way to Boulder. Take
the tollway N. exit - exit 6B toward Fort Collins. Please see the
section below for more information on paying tolls - it changed
recently. Be sure to discuss the issue of tolls in advance
with any rental-car company!
- Follow the Northwest Parkway until it merges onto US 36 West, the
Boulder Denver Turnpike. (The NW Parkway becomes Storage Tech
Drive/S. 96th St. before this, but you won't notice a change.)
- Stay on Hwy-36 all the way into Boulder (approximately 9 miles)
where it stops being a freeway and becomes 28th Street.
- At the 2nd Traffic Light turn left onto Arapahoe.
- Go one-half mile (past 2 more traffic lights - the road will
narrow to two lanes after the 2nd light) to 22nd Street.
Turn right onto 22nd Street, and immediately left into the Briar Rose
brick parking lot.
- Driving time should be approximately 45 minutes.

Toll Information
On E-470, the first two toll booths you
will pass, you don't need to do anything but drive, as you will either
be billed from your license plate or from a transponder in a rental
car. On the Northwest Parkway, which will be the third toll-booth,
you can stop and pay cash as you might expect. Note that credit
cards are not accepted. After 10 pm the booth is not staffed,
and they will bill you from the license plate. The entire route is
straightforward, but the toll payment is somewhat confusing. Be
sure to discuss the issue of tolls in advance with any rental-car
company! They all have something worked out, but some will
charge an extra $25 fee if you don't have this figured out in advance.
Some details follow, as extracted from the web sites for the toll
roads. We don't provide links because the sites are somewhat
confusing.
- E-470
No cash is needed to pay a toll on E-470. A customer who does not have an
EXpressToll account automatically becomes a License Plate Toll customer. A
License Plate Toll bill will be sent to the registered owner of the vehicle 30 days after
the first transaction. The License Plate Toll bill must be paid in full by the due date
or all the transactions will become toll violations. A toll violation notice will be sent
for each of those violations.
- Northwest Parkway
If you do not have an active
ExpressToll account and travel the road between 6:00 am and 10:00 pm,
you must stop and pay cash for your tolls at our Main Plaza toll
booths. Credit cards are not accepted at the toll booths. You do not
need exact cash at the Main Plaza. Our courteous and friendly toll
collectors will gladly provide change for bills of $20.00 or less.
